Cost by type of court
| Type | Typical cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Outdoor acrylic | ₹5 to 12 lakh | Societies, schools, low budgets |
| Synthetic (PVC) floor, indoor | ₹5 to 8 lakh for the floor | Most academies and booking centres |
| Wooden floor, indoor | ₹8 to 20 lakh for the floor | Premium centres and serious players |
| Full indoor court with roof | ₹25 lakh to ₹1 crore+ | Year-round play, coaching |
Badminton needs a roof: wind ruins play outdoors. The building, height (at least 9 metres clear above the court is ideal), lights without glare and ventilation are often the biggest part of the bill.
How courts earn
Most indoor centres earn from two things: hourly bookings for adults in the morning and evening, and coaching batches for children after school. Coaching fills the afternoon, which bookings rarely do.
What decides success
- Children nearby. Coaching needs schools and families within a short drive.
- Rivals nearby. Count the courts and academies within 15 minutes and what they charge.
- Keeping players. A centre that keeps its coaching children for years grows; one that loses them every few months keeps paying to find new ones.
